West Indies v Ireland second ODI has been delayed due to COVID cases due to injuries

The second international day of the second day between the West Indies and Ireland in Kingston on Tuesday has been postponed due to COVID-19 cases and visitor injuries, the two groups said in a joint statement.

Ireland reported two other positive cases, and two players were ruled out due to injury, with a total of five players isolated.

Paul Stirling, Simi Singh and Ben White tested positive last week and lost their first ODI on Saturday, which the West Indies won in 24 races.

“Necessary” for obvious reasons

“The CWI and CI are in the process of reviewing the match schedule and working to explore all options for completing the series,” the statement said.

The two groups will meet in a third ODI on Friday, before the end of the tour, with a single international Twenty20 in Kingston on Sunday.

Ireland’s US tour was also suspended due to COVID-19. Both teams played a T20 series, which ended 1-1 before the Florida ODI series was canceled after the tour staff members tested positive.
