FIFA aims to hold a draw for the World Cup on 1 April

FIFA will hold a draw for Qatar’s 2022 World Cup finals on April 1, due to two unknowns in the qualifying teams, due to a delay in the COVID-19 pandemic calendar.

The draw ceremony plan was announced on Wednesday by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who was elected on 31 March to host the annual congress of 211 federation members of the football organization Doha.

Only 30 of the 32 places to qualify for the tournament from November 21 to December 18 will be completed by the end of March. Only Germany and Denmark have confirmed the locations next to the host Qatar.

Two places will be decided in June in the intercontinental playoffs, which have had to go back since March.

These games will feature a team from Asia, the CONCACAF region of North America, Oceania and South America.

FIFA had to create more weeks in its busy schedule for the World Cup qualifiers next January because most continents had to clear their backlog.
