Do you have a spirit holiday place? Does it feel like you have a deep connection to that place, and even when you go back a few years without putting your feet up when you come back, does it feel like time has passed and that you feel like coming home? Adam and I went to Capri for our honeymoon over 10 years ago, we fell in love with it. It’s weird that most people associate Capri with nightlife and Hollywood glamor, and while it has that side to it, it’s the rocky Capri cliffs I love, the blue waters, the long walks, the longer swims, and of course the food.

When we returned for a week to celebrate ours 10th wedding anniversary, it was as magical as I could remember. We like old favorites Capri Palace and Paolina, and I have found many new places to discover that have found a permanent place on the essential list. Because I decided not to give up another one I have to spend a decade before returning to Capri, where I can sleep, eat, swim and play on the island. internal tips you need to know how to make the sail smooth.

Everything you need to know about what to do, eat and see in Capri …

Getting there

Capri is not the easiest to reach a place in the world, as it is a small island without a commercial airport. You have to get to Naples by plane, train or car and then take the ferry from the port of Naples to the port of Capri. Once you reach Capri, you can take a taxi to get to your final destination.

This trip to Naples would leave us with a long stop, so instead we decided to fly directly to Rome and then we took the car service to the Port of Naples for 2 hours and boarded a ferry there. I’ve also heard rumors that you could go by helicopter, but unfortunately I still don’t know that directly.

On both sides of the island

The island is on the one hand divided into the town of Capri, which is usually more crowded and has many shops, restaurants and hotels; and Anacapri, which is more rustic, crowded, and “real”. We were in Anacaprin on both trips and I personally love the quiet and natural atmosphere of that part of the island. If you’re into nightlife and shopping, stay in Caprin; if you are looking for hiking and relaxing beaches, you are an Anacapri girl. It allows you to travel between the two sides (crowded but cheap by bus), by taxi (comfortable but expensive – 25 euros one way) or on foot; it’s a wonderful experience, but probably an hour-long walk down the epic staircase once during the trip.

When to go

May is still quite cold, with July and August being filled with peak tourist season. It’s June perfect, and I’ve heard that September is nice too (make sure it’s warm enough to swim!)

How to say

“Cah-pree.” Do it.

Where to sleep

Capri Palace. This is the only hotel I can personally talk to since I have stayed at both Caprin; once I experienced the honeymoon, I couldn’t stop anywhere else! Situated on the cliffs of Anacapri, it is ideally located in the most charming town with endless views of the Mediterranean. The rooms are very simple and art is everywhere. The Michelin-starred restaurant and unparalleled spa deserve their own tickets, read on.

Not like Caprin

Pauline. In this Capri organization, you can dine under a lemon bush with lemons literally the size of your head. Expect homemade Italian dishes: Caprese salad, spaghetti with clams and linguine, soaked in a bad amount of bearded truffles. Yum!

Tip: Limoncello is Capri’s official drink, and Paolino is the perfect place to grab a homemade drink at the end of a meal.

Olive tree. It also happens with our hotel house bi Michelin star restaurants, one of which was the amazing L’Olivo, we spent a couple of our sweetest nights on the trip. It’s stylish without being bustling, and some the best people looking at the island. Adam and I shared everything, we couldn’t decide between the pasta and the crispy lobster, and we had to save space for the candy cart that was circulating at the end of the evening.

Hedgehog. Capri Palace it also has the prettiest beach club on the island. We spent the day lounging on the beach the chairs went with fresh mozzarella and grilled on the day grill for late lunch. We returned for dinner on our anniversary evening. After watching the sunset from the top floor an epic dinner of sea urchin spaghetti it’s something I’ll never forget.

Pro Tip: Don’t Miss Out “Temptation Room”Flooring from the floor, you could dream of all the Italian desserts.

La Capannina. This restaurant in the town of Capri, near the main square, is a gem of an old school. Embarked on a cozy parade with photos of celebrities covering the walls, you’ll feel like you’re back in Capri’s star-studded glamorous days. Adam and I went into a booth until late with a homemade red glass and Veal Milanese dishes. Then we walked down the sidewalk eating gelato as the moon lit up the Mediterranean. Date night is no better than this.

Lido del Faro. This beach club was much more local and touristy than the others, full of Italians who were there take the sun and swim all day! We enjoyed the beach restaurant, ate a two-hour lunch and handed out a bottle of local white-y mineral wine. Many beach clubs in Italy basically have pretty good menus and food, but this distinguishes them from the most perfect fish caught, grilled octopus and spaghetti with zucchini flowers.

Pro tip: Arrive before 1pm and you can choose the table with the most beautiful views. The Italians never eat before 13:15.

Jasmine. A friend mentioned this place to me, and since it is in a remote area of Anacapri that needs a walk to get in, we almost missed it. Thank goodness we didn’t! A small breakfast that makes wine with grapes in the restaurant was owned by our waiter and opened by his wife’s grandparents three generations earlier. It is truly a unique place in the country and offers endless views of the sea. We ordered roasted tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella stuffed with ravioli and our favorite simple salad with pity and a large chunk of fresh parmesan.

Pro tip: walk a little early and explore the dazzling ”Philosophical Park”Along the roadside, it offers views of both sides of the island if you climb to the highest point.

What to do in Caprin

Ride the boat. Capri is one of the most amazing places to ride a boat, and depending on your budget and what you have in mind, there are plenty of ways to go. At the marina, there are many group boat trips to take you through the island and down to see the blue cave. On our honeymoon, we booked a motor boat that took us to Positano and back. This time it was my favorite boat experience.

My friend Alex I was struck by a private boat ride provided by the family the owner owned Pauline (See restaurant above.) Talk about the great Capri experience! Our captain Tonnino gave us the most wonderful full tour of all the places on the island. We skipped the famous blue cave that is still touristy and instead saw the strange Green Grotta, the White Grotto, inside and of course we crossed under the famous Faraglioni and kissed it for good luck.

Pro tip: You can email Michela, Tonnino’s wife (she is also her father, Vittorino, captain and owner of Paolo) by email [email protected] to check availability.

Villa San Michelle. At the beginning of the century we went to the villas, museums and gardens created by the Swedish doctor and author Axel Munthe. It totally exceeded my expectations, the wonderful views we saw throughout the trip and the amazing gardens. Make sure you see the famous sphinx sculpture that overlooks the cliffs, which is 3,200 years old!

Pro tip: Near the Sphinx, you’ll find the starting point for the famous Phoenician steps that descend to the town of Capri. Put on your sneakers and get ready for a terrific outing, a prize consisting of a coffee in the square or a glass of wine.

Fontelina Beach Club. If you haven’t been to a European the beach in the village, the term “Beach Club” can be misleading. (But visiting one is a must if you’re thinking about what to do in Capri). They are not clubs in any sense of the night. Instead of dancing, it’s there lying under the beach umbrellas, and instead of jelly shots, there’s a new fish on the sea grill. In other words, my “club” type.

Fontelina is my favorite old school for a reason. Its blue and white striped sunshine pours out the Italian holiday and the whole scene is set against Capri’s most famous skyline, the Faraglioni rocks. Call to book beach chairs around 11:00 and then book a table for 13:00 or 15:00 lunch seats.

Tip: You can walk to the beach club from the path next to the Tragara observatory in the town of Capri. Wear comfortable shoes: the trail takes you to the sea for a 20-minute walk. There is also a cruise ship that will take you to the marina if you don’t feel like taking a ride.

Hiking in the Fortress Trail. In a way on my honeymoon, I missed the note that Capri is one of the best hiking spots on the planet. The captain of our ship (see above) pointed out several historic forts on the coast and mentioned that as a child, he would walk the 3-hour route that connects them all. So of course we had to go look for it!

This article it does a good job of explaining the whole route, and since there are so many places to climb and jump, it will make the most sense to talk to a local and map out your route to the starting point and how. you want to go far.

Capri Medical Spa.

If you need a break from everything, this is a world-class spa du Place of destination in Italy. It offers cutting-edge treatments, but is comprehensive care real well-being it’s the inside out that really sets it apart, in my opinion. With a doctor or nutritionist to get a full protocol or get one of the best massages of your life. Reflecting their view from east to west, I received my first real Thai massage from a terrific therapist trained in Bangkok.
