Tesla has opened a retail store on Millenia Walk, offering testing on the East Coast – Wired PR Lifestyle Story

Tesla Singapore opened its first retail store in Southeast Asia on Millenia Walk on Saturday, January 15th.

The store is an add-on to Tesla’s V3 Supercharger, which opened for the first time Millenia Walk last September.

Tesla shoppers may be familiar with the Model 3 car version, often known as the smaller, simpler, and cheaper Tesla electric car, on Millenia Walk, testing along the scenic shores of East Coast Parkway.

Enthusiastic sales of Tesla EVs in 2021

According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), ownership of Singapore’s Tesla cars rose last year, from about 30 cars in January to June to nearly 900 cars in the second half of the year.

Tesla has been Singapore’s best-selling electric vehicle since entering the local market in July 2021, according to LTA statistics from September last year. Overall, it was also ranked as the sixth best-selling car brand in the country.

Tesla sold a total of 314 cars in September 2021, which is double the number of cars sold compared to August 2021.

EV national momentum

Tesla’s entry into the Singapore market has been marked by years of uncertainty and difficult relationships, but it seems that the brand is starting to make inroads into plans by the government to phase out its internal combustion engine (ICE) cars by 2040.

Tesla currently has two Supercharger stations in Singapore. Not only is the charging station on Millenia Walk, the second one is here Central Orchard.

The Tesla V3 Supercharger, which is exclusive to Tesla owners, is said to reduce the charging time on EVs by 15 minutes, compared to regular chargers, which typically take several hours to fully charge.
