2021 Australian Open: Novak Djokovic will advance to the men’s final, trying to get the second three peat in the championship

Novak Djokovic No. 1 goes to another men’s final in the Australian Open. With a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win on Thursday, Aslan Karatsev won the ticket to No. 114. Djokovic will face No. 4 winner Daniil Medvedev, who will play on Friday, with No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, who will play on Friday, on Sunday.

Karatsev, 27, won with No. 8 Diego Schwartzman and No. 16 Grigor Dimitrov to face the top-ranked male player. This was the first time this tournament had qualified for the main. After the match, Djokovic “gave his hand” to his opponent, ran a cinderella and congratulated him on a great tournament.

The 33-year-old World No. 1 has had a stomach injury, but has warned he is feeling well. After beating Karatsev, Djokovic said “the whole tournament has been the best I’ve felt … It was the best game so far. It came at the right time. I’m glad to feel that way.”

He is ready for what goes into the finals and says he hopes to face a motivated opponent.

“Tsitsipa and Medvedev want to win their first Grand Slam title,” Djokovic said. “I’m sure they’ll do everything they can, so I’ll be ready for that.”

Djokovic is a two-time Australian Open men’s individual champion and has won a total of eight Australian Open wins, the most in men’s history. It will be the 28th Grand Slam final and the 18th is looking for the Grand Slam.

In 2008, the Australian Open was Djokovic’s first major victory and he has yet to be defeated in the final, which has reached a perfect 8-0.
