Boxing continues into 2021. After a bleak 2020, when many stars have not competed or only once competed, the new year has seen a few fighters in the ring with great success.

Look no further for the same pound king, Canelo Alvarez. The Mexican superstar has already made a couple of knockouts, with Avni Yildirim easily stopping in February, before another stop by Billy Joe Saunders in May.

And many in the boxing community were amazed when WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas surpassed the legend of Manny Pacquiao to save his title in August. Fight at the last minute Errol Spence Jr. although it was caused by a joint title injury, many hoped Pacquiao, 42, would be able to take care of business against the Cuban. Pacquiao announced his retirement from boxing to head for the presidency in the Philippines in his hometown.

In addition, Oleksandr Usy surprised many with his brilliant work against Anthony Joshua to claim a joint heavyweight championship. Usyk made the decision on the London champion and threw a key to the heavyweight unification fight plans after Josu asked for his automatic rematch clause.
