Asus ZenBook 13 (AMD) review: Wonderful, impressive OLED
[ad_1]
Asus ZenBook 13 is one of them good quality laptops I tried it a long time ago. The ZenBook line always has high-end features at surprisingly competitive prices, but the latest model stands out for two reasons: a wonderful OLED display and a Ryzen 5000U series chip.
It’s worth noting that the new AMD Ryzen 5000U series processors get the performance that Intel’s latest 11th generation (“Tiger Lake”) processors earn the most for much less money. The AMD version of the Asus laptop starts at $ 800 for the Ryzen 5 model, which is a lot for many people. The more expensive Ryzen 7 series model I tested comes close to performance Apple’s M1 his chip the latest MacBooks, but again at a lower price. The ZenBook 13 “ it’s a lot of laptops not to have a lot of money. However, this does not mean that it is not uncommon.
Narrow keyboard
Although the ZenBook 13 has great value, you have one annoyance: the keyboard. Some may call it tight, though, but it’s not my first problem. What bothers me is the extra row of keys on the right side with the keys that would normally sit on a NumPad, like Page Up and Home.
The QWERTY field ends up becoming the center with the trackpad. Every time I put my hands on either side of the trackpad, I didn’t touch the keys I thought I was touching. Luckily, after about a week I adjusted my brain and got used to it. The bad news is that it’s closer to the normal key range he does it brings large numbers of common typos. I gave ZenBook to my wife for a couple of days to see if I was alone, but no, she had the same experience.
Here the solution is obvious: remove the extra row of keys and the rest of the keyboard accordingly, but, alas, what is it. It’s not a breach of agreement, and I say that as a writer who is constantly writing. But I recommend you try this laptop to see if it bothers you.
Aside from the keyboard, he will like a lot about the rest of the design of this ZenBook. These laptops have always been lively featherweight machines, and this latest model is no exception. She weighs more than 2.5 pounds and has just over half an inch of hair.
When you open the lid of the ZenBook, the hinge raises the back of the body, giving the keyboard a comfortable 3-degree slope (approximately). This helps to release air under the chassis to keep things cool. I’m not sure if it’s the result of this design or not, but I only heard the fans come once in all of my tests. (And to be fair, there will be an hour-long meeting of Microsoft Teams any laptop as a jet engine.)
OLED and Ryzen 5000U series
The initial interest in the ZenBook 13 was the AMD Ryzen 5000U series chip and it doesn’t disappoint. I also made some references against the previous AMD (Ryzen 7 4000 series) and an Intel i7 Lenovo. This is orange-orange, so I won’t go into too much depth, but the 5000U series has passed both in almost every multi-wire test, which is what you’d expect. It is likely that Intel models will win games.
What was more interesting to me was the real experience of rendering and exporting video, which was fast, next to the Ryzen 4000 series machine, and watching HD video, which looks great on a 13-inch OLED screen. This is one of the first laptops for less than $ 1,000 that I’ve seen with an OLED display. It’s only 1080p, unlike some 4K OLEDs on some Dell machines, but it still looks great, with deep, rich blacks and very saturated colors.
