Pixel 4A 5G (9/10, recommended by WIRED) shares many features with the Pixel 5, but has some similarities with the Pixel 4A.
Let’s start with the similarities it has with Pixel 5. You get the same performance with the Snapdragon 765G processor, except for 8 gigabytes of RAM instead of 8 GB (which really doesn’t make much of a difference). It also has dual camera system and specific video capabilities and 5G support. However, the 5G capabilities are not as extensive as this phone as you will find in other 5G ready phones. The unlocked model only supports 5G sub-6. If you use Verizon and are in one of the company’s 5G coverage areas, you’ll need to pay for a Pixel-locked version to get the new millimeter-wave service. (We don’t think it’s worth it, so keep the unlocked Pixel 4A to 5G.) Battery life is slightly worse than that of the Pixel 5, which lasts only a full day.
Like the Pixel 4A, the Pixel 4A is made of 5G plastic, has no wireless charge or water resistance, and the OLED display doesn’t have a 90 Hz refresh rate. It’s bigger, though. This 6.2-inch OLED screen is the largest of the three, making it the best Pixel for anyone who values size.

Should you buy an older pixel?
Probably not. With new Pixels on the way this year, it doesn’t make sense to put tons of money older than the current lineup. If you find Pixel 3A for less than $ 250, go for it. If a Pixel 4 or 4 XL gets $ 400 or less, then it’s a solid deal. But the battery life of the Pixel 4 range is pretty bad, with Google fixing something on its latest phones. All of these old phones will be there too stop receiving software updates 2022an. You better buy one of the newer models.
