On May 3, Boeing donated nearly $ 900,000 to political committees and candidates, including four of the 147 Republicans who voted against securing the victory of U.S. President Joe Biden.
Boeing Co’s political action committee resumed its nomination of federal candidates and committees in May after a three-month hiatus, including donations to members opposed to securing the 2020 election results for President Joe Biden.
The aerospace giant joined dozens of other companies on Jan. 13, announcing that Donald Trump supporters would suspend and review PAC donations after the Jan. 6 incident.
But as of May 3, Boeing had donated nearly $ 900,000 to political committees and candidates, according to the latest data presented to the Federal Electoral Commission.
Among the seats in Parliament that received $ 5,000, the maximum number the PAC could provide for each election were the head of minority House Kevin McCarthy of California, whip minority of Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Vicky Hartzler of Missouri. Representative Jack Bergman, a Republican from Michigan who also voted against the certificate, got $ 2,500.
These four voted against securing the votes of the Bide Electoral University in line with Trump’s false claim that he swapped the 2020 election among the 147 Republicans. Five people were killed as a result of the crowd that stormed the building.
A Boeing spokesman did not immediately send an email seeking comment.
Boeing’s PAC donated $ 25,000 to the Republican General Bar Association. A member of the group, the Rule of Law Fund, helped organize protests before the incident on Jan. 6, and Robocalla paid Trump supporters to attend the “Stop the Steal” demonstration.
The largest donations from the PAC were to the Republican Governors Association, which raised $ 200,000, and the arms of the Democratic and Republican parties in the Senate and House each received $ 105,000 – the maximum the PAC can give to a party committee a year.
Democratic politicians also got contributions. House spokeswoman Nancy Pelosi and majority whip Jim Clyburn each raised $ 5,000 for the first campaign, while majority leader Steny Hoyer raised $ 5,000 for his first race and $ 5,000 for the general election.
Boeing’s PAC and staff were the 77th largest source of contributions to the 2020 election cycle campaign, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which examines political donations. The Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC matching Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, was the largest recipient with $ 790,000. Biden was second, receiving $ 726,148, followed by Trump with $ 602,962.
