Boxing schedule for 2021: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort, Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk.

In 2021, boxing continues. After seeing that many stars competed in the tough year without competing or only once, the new year has seen some fighters with great success.

Look no further than the King of Pounds himself, Canelo Alvarez. The Mexican star has already made a couple of knockouts, with Avni Yildirim easily stopped in February before another stop by Billy Joe Saunders in May. Now, Alvarez hopes to make an appointment with Caleb Plant in September to become a middleweight division champion.

Many in the boxing community were shocked when WBA weightlifting champion Yordenis Ugas allowed legend Manny Pacquiao to retain his title in August. Wrestling at the last minute Errol Spence Jr. although the headline was injured, many hoped Pacquiao, 42, could take care of business against the Cuban. Now, uncertainty surrounds the future of Pacquiao’s struggle.

As we head into September, a major celebrity fight takes center stage when the legendary Oscar De La Hoya returns to the boxing ring to take on the great Vitor Belfort of MMA in Las Vegas on September 11th. De La Hoya, 48, has not competed professionally since losing in the knockout stages against Manny Pacquiao in December 2008. Therefore, this competition will include special rules, including two-minute rounds. Belfort, 44, will make his second appearance in the boxing ring when his debut comes in 2006.

Heavy weights will affect all major players in the fall. First up, joint champion Anthony Joshua is back when he takes on former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk inside London’s Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Josu Tyson had hoped to get an undisputed fight with FBC headline WBC in the early summer, but talks broke down when Fury faced his negotiating issues.

Despite a delay as a result of COVID-19, Fury and Deontay Wilder will finally get the score in October when they meet inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight was scheduled for July 24, when Wilder gave him his third fight after winning the arbitration ruling. But Fury tested positive for COVID-19 while he was in training and delayed the date by nearly three months.
