Coros Pace 2 Review: A new race for my favorite race

[ad_1]

After years Testing GPS watches from many brands, I admitted to what seemed like a tough event: in terms of fit, all of Garmin’s watches are ahead of the pack, as it would be almost impossible for another company to catch them. . I’ve seen a lot of companies fail. If I wanted to track a workout or map a race, I would probably give up a Garmin.

However, a year or so ago, a company started pausing for me. Coros, a California company, began making bicycle helmets, among other things, it began to protect some athletes with severe stellar power. Famous pro ultrarunner Coree Woltering, Who set the fastest time known on the Ice Age Trail route and won hearts The toughest race in the world, Coros darama. That’s what happens Eliud Kipchoge, a marathon world record.

It’s like watching an athlete signed by Nike suddenly migrate a completely different shoe. What yes Does Eliud Kipchoge do it? But it wasn’t until he saw Des Linden air conditioning a new world record With the Coros clock I couldn’t take it any further. I had to test the technology. Coros sent me his Pace 2, and — amazement! – It’s also my favorite race watch now.

Feathered friend

Let’s start with the most striking feature. Peace 2 yes light. It weighs 29 grams, which is a few grams lighter than its closest competitors Garmin Forerunner 45. It’s so light, I barely noticed it even though I was wearing it.

If you also have the option of replacing the perforated silicone band with a nylon one, to save more weight, I’d rather soap and clean the silicone band for comfort than wash the nylon sweat by hand. (And yes, I know it’s disgusting, but if you’re irritation in the wrist under your fitness tracker, you will probably need to clean the strap.)

The Coros watch has two buttons compared to Garmin’s five buttons. One of the buttons rotates like a digital crown to traverse the activities, another button selects the highlighted option, and the last one returns to the previous step. Operation is very simple.

The screen is also simple. Rather than a light, clear, and customizable display of Garmin’s pixel memory, the Pace 2 has a basic LCD screen. You can choose different faces and choose your color scheme, but the options are limited. Honestly, I prefer that. Sports watches don’t have to be the best screens. An LCD is usually fine.

The LCD screen is also a low energy component, which I found especially helpful when I went camping. There’s a lot of my family out there, and there’s nothing more annoying than doing a sudden tour to find out that your battery is dead. The Garmin Solar Instinct I tested last year that it could supplement the battery life by a few days with solar charging, but as a result, you don’t have to worry about charging the battery, in any case, when the battery itself lasts epically.
