Death of Philip Prince: The world’s leaders react

President Joe Biden is among the world’s leaders honoring Prince Philip of Britain, husband of Queen Elizabeth II News of Philip’s death on Friday morning.

In a statement, Biden paid his “deepest condolences” to the royal family and acknowledged the horrible life of the Duke of Edinburgh, who had spent a few months in a century.

“Throughout his 99-year life, he has seen our world change tremendously and over and over again,” Joe and Jill Biden said. “From the service he rendered in World War II, with the Queen for 73 years, and all his life in front of the people. Prince Philip offered himself with pleasure to the people of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and his family.”

Former US Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump also paid tribute to Prince Philip.

In his statement, Trump praised the prince “for his outstanding example of service, perseverance, and patriotism,” recognizing his military career as part of the Royal Army.

“In recent years, Melania and I have been honored to have the opportunity to visit the UK. We saw first-hand how the Monarchy epitomizes and embodies the virtues of the British people – and no one did more than Prince Philip, ”Trump said.

The Obamaites chose to remember Prince Philip as “sympathetic and warm, with a keen mind and a lasting good humor.”

Their joint statement referred to the memory of their first meeting with the royal couple in 2009.

“Since we are two Americans who weren’t used to the palace and the fish market, we didn’t know what to expect. We shouldn’t worry. The Queen and Prince Philip immediately reassured us with their grace and generosity, making an event much more natural, more comfortable, ”they wrote.

“On the Queen’s side or following the usual two steps,” Obama said, “Prince Philip has shown the world what it means to be a caring husband for a powerful woman.”

It was also published by former US President George Bush statement saying that both he and his wife Laura felt “sad” when they learned of Prince Philip’s death.

“Laura and I are fortunate to have enjoyed the charm and clarity of her company, and we know how much she will lose,” Bush said. “We join with the rest of the world in offering a heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the entire Royal Family.”

In the UK, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson appeared on the first steps of 10 Downing Street to pay tribute to Philip’s address to the nation.

“He was an expert wagon driver, he helped run the royal family and the monarchy, making it an essential institution for the balance and happiness of our national life,” Johnson said.

The Prime Minister called on the UK to address the show of wishes and support for the royal family, saying that it has lost a “responsible husband and a proud and loving father, grandfather and, in recent years, great-grandfather”.

Former British Prime Minister Theresa May and David Cameron were also among those who published their condolences.

Mayk said he owed 99 years of “extraordinary gratitude” for his service to the queen and the country, while Cameron described his death as “sadly disappointing news.”

Around the world, other leaders have paid tribute to Prince Philip, including Justin Trudeau, Canada’s prime minister, who is also the queen’s head of state.

“A family has lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” Trudeau said statement. “Canadian thoughts are with Queen Elizabeth II and members of the Royal Family, while they mourn such a significant loss.”

Prince Philip was the patron saint of more than 40 Canadian institutions, including the Canadian Institute of Aeronautics and Space and the Outward Bound Trust.

His service earned him an extraordinary first friend of the Order of Canada, presented to him by the Governor-General of Canada during his last visit to the country in 2013.

The Duke, who was born in 1921, is also remembered by other European royal families.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark posted a portrait of Prince Philip on Instagram, expressing condolences to her British authority.

Prince Philip was the great-grandson of King Christian IX, who was King of Denmark from 1863 until his death in 1906.

King Harald V. of Norway asked for the flags to be placed in the middle of the mast on the balcony of the palace on Friday and the day of Philip’s funeral. The news of Philip’s death was received with “great sorrow,” the Norweigan monarch said.

In Sweden, King Carl XVI Gustaf a statement both she and Queen Silvia felt the news felt “very sad”.

“Prince Philip has been a great friend of our family for many years, a relationship we have greatly appreciated,” said the Swedish sovereign. “The service he provides to his country will continue to be a source of inspiration for all of us.”

The royal family of the Netherlands – King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix – also published a document of condolences to “leave an unforgettable impression that the living identity of Prince Philip never left”.
