No deaths have been reported in the port of Jebel Ali, one of the largest in the world, authorities say the fire is under control.
A container ship anchored in one of the world’s largest ports in Dubai caught fire on Wednesday, local authorities said after the blast shook the commercial hub of the United Arab Emirates.
The fire sent huge orange flames to a ship in the crucial port of Jebel Ali, the most populous town in the Middle East, but authorities said the situation was under control.
“The fire caused by an explosion inside a ship in a port ship in Jebel Ali has been brought under control; no casualties were reported, ”the Dubai Media Office (DMO) said on Twitter.
The fire unleashed a wave of shock across the city, shaking buildings and windows in neighborhoods 25 miles from the port.
At least three residents in the area of the blast, the cause of which is unknown, have reported windows and doors of the house as a result of the incident.

No immediate deaths were reported at the port, which is also the most striking feature of American warships outside the U.S.
Earlier on Thursday, the Dubai government released a statement saying that emergency services had put the fire under control. Firefighters who machine-gunned the authorities on social media were smearing huge shipwrecks.
The glow of the fire was seen in the background as civil defense crews worked to keep the fire going.
There was immediate damage to the wide port of light and the surrounding cargo. The cause of the fire was also not immediately known.
Port officials said they were “taking all necessary measures to ensure the normal movement of ships without interruption.”
Mona al-Marri, the DMO’s chief executive, told Al-Arabiya TV that the incident “can happen anywhere in the world” and that the government communications office has been working to issue statements to prevent rumors from spreading the fire. is being investigated.
The office said the unidentified vessel was preparing to dock at a berth “away from the main port shipping line.”

At around 23:45 local time (07:45 GMT) residents of Dubai posted horrific videos of them recording devices on their tops on social media showing a fireball illuminating the night sky.
Clemence Lefaix, next to the explosion site, posted a photo of a bright orange light against the night sky in front of the apartment buildings.
“I was outside on my balcony. My friend saw something yellow coming [like] Sun. I took the picture and then [there was] a sound, ”Lefaix told AFP news agency.
The Jebel Ali port on the far north of Dubai is the largest deep-water port in the world and serves the cargo of the Indian subcontinent, Africa and Asia.
Managed by Dubai-based DP World, the port has four terminal containers that can accommodate some of the world’s largest ships. The port is not only a global critical cargo hub, but also a lifeline for Dubai and the surrounding emirates as a point of entry for key imports.
DP World describes Jebel Ali Port as a “gateway hub” and an “essential link in the global trade network” that connects eastern and western markets. The company did not immediately make a public statement about the blast.
