Italy could break its 82-year-old national record on Saturday in the last 16 of the 2020 Euro Cup when it beats Austria.

Roberto Mancini, who failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Italy, has turned Azzurri into a competitor.

If he wins on Saturday, he will break the record for a 30-game winless streak and extend the order of World Cup coach Vittorio Pozzo, who won twice in the 1930s.

Austria have been ranked second in Group C since losing 2-0 in the Netherlands, beating Ukraine 1-0 in the final game.

“We know we are a minority and it’s hard to judge our real chances, but you can also get a lot with 10 percent,” said Austrian coach Franco Foda.

“This team has already achieved something impressive, but now we are focused on taking the next step towards going to Munich.”

Meanwhile, defender Leonardo Bonucci has said he will make the decision to decide whether or not to take the knee on Italy on Saturday after only five players played against Wales.

“We are going to have a group meeting this afternoon before Italy-Wales to decide what we will do tomorrow,” Bonucci said on Friday.

According to Austrian captain David Alaba, “taking the knee is a clear sign which has attracted attention to racism and that is a very positive sign.”

“We all have the same opinion about it. We will do it again against Italy, ”the Real Madrid defender said.
