The French interior minister has called on police to ban a pro-Palestinian protest in Paris over the weekend, escalating Israeli airstrikes on Israeli-occupied Palestinian territory in Gaza and cracking down on occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Paris-based journalist Sihame Assbague said Darmann’s decision to ban protests in favor of Palestine was for two reasons, including “the French colonial solidarity with the Israeli occupation forces.”

“You don’t support political mobilization against settlers,” he added.

Yasser Louati, head of the Justice and Freedoms Committee, told Al Jazeera in Paris “whether we will march [French President Emmanuel] Whether Macron and Darmann like it or not. ”
