there is not a lot of mystery has been left to Windows 11, thanks to a comprehensive leaked last week. But there are still some schemes to stay in the shadows, especially improvements made to Microsoft’s home applications (Office and Game Pass). Every time an operating system with more than a billion users gets an upgrade, even small changes can have a big impact. Here’s how to see yourself on Thursday and what you can see.
How to See
It’s easy enough to see how the part is. The event will begin on Thursday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. ET on ET Microsoft events you can park on the page or maybe in the company YouTube channel.
But what would you see! Well, that’s also not hard to imagine, as the initial construction line has been completely leaked. That’s not to say that all the secrets of Windows 11 have been revealed, mostly because the changes so far are largely aesthetic. But probably Microsoft still has some surprises in store.
Windows to the Future
In the meantime, though, the visual review has some interesting nuggets. It seems to alleviate a lot of what you’re used to from Windows 10, especially around the Start menu and taskbar. Rather than the one on the left, they have been moved to the bottom half of the screen. (If you prefer the current location, you can go back.) You won’t even find a dedicated Cortana icon on the taskbar, and that’s fine too, because it earned you valuable real estate without much pay.
Once you open the Start menu, you’ll find more common application icons than dynamic Windows 10 Live Tiles. The design is cleaner and minimal, though hides most of the menu click the button separately. In a touch of Apple (we dare say), the file menus and Windows 11 apps will have more rounded corners. The maximize button in the application windows has been reworked to keep the windows immediately next to each other or in the corners. According to Tom Warren in The Verge, Windows 11 also brings a new flowering launch sound and some pretty default wallpapers.
The Microsoft Store is expected to get a rework as well, but details about that are more vague. Rumors earlier this year note that Microsoft’s goal is to make the Store more attractive to developers. Basically legal snack Between Apple and Epic Games app store policies, Microsoft is keen position yourself as a good boy and encourage developers to their platform. In any case, it is clear that more Microsoft news will come, both at the Windows 11 event and beyond.
