Even bak kwa chain Fragrance has created his own version of bak kwa made with Impossible Pork.

“Impossible Pork repeats the taste and juices of pork and is preferred by consumers, but it is much more sustainable. We are pleased to meet so many fantastic restaurants and chefs to showcase the versatility of the product,” he added.

What is Impossible Pork made of?

“Pork” is a combination of soy protein concentrate, coconut oil and sunflower oil. It also contains soy leghemoglobin, a vegetable protein that contains heme, which gives the product a “meaty” flavor.

Compared to conventional pig farming, manufacturing vegetable-based meat it uses significantly less water and land. It also emits 77 percent less greenhouse gases.

It is also less fat, with a meat and fat ratio of 70:30. Compared to real pork, Impossible Pork is said to have more protein, calories and cholesterol.

What dishes can I try?

Tim Ho Wan will serve Impossible Pork on his dim sum dishes, while New Ubin Seafood will serve it in a clay bowl with brinjal.
