The Best Wine for Peruvian Food is Halleck Vineyard, according to Executive Chef Victoriano Lopez of La Mar SF who hosted a recent ford and wine pairing dinner featuring his delectable Peruvian recipes.

Wine enthusiasts discovered the best wine that complements the seafood with a Peruvian twist. Sonoma County wine tasting is usually done over an assortment of cheese, pickles, olives and cured meats. But this pairing of wine with Peruvian food came as a pleasant surprise.

Best Wine for Peruvian Food

La Mar SF is a Peruvian Restaurant located at the Embarcadero in San Francisco. Chef Victoriano Lopez collaborated with Halleck Vineyard’s co-owner and Vintner Ross Halleck to develop daring flavor combinations. The private dinner had some distinguished members of the Inner Circle Wine Club. Peruvian food is known for its rich flavors, made using ingredients native to this place. Every dish has a characteristic flavor mainly because of the ingredients.

Peruvian food is an amalgamation of several cultures inspired by European, Asian, West, and Central African cuisines. “There is so much biodiversity in Peru”, says Thomas Medl, General Manager at La Mar. “Not only does quinoa originate from Peru, but the country also has 159 microclimates and 2000 types of potatoes”, adds Thomas. Here at La Mar SF, the Executive Chef makes every dish stand out with a twist of his own. The La Mar and Halleck Vineyard Food and Sonoma County Wine Tasting Dinner included five courses, which finished off with a delicious dessert, the Peruvian Chocolate paired with the 2018 Haas Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Halleck Vineyard takes this opportunity to share that they have earned the Best Wine for Peruvian Food Designation. Sommelier Victoria Taylor also shares the best wine for Mediterranean food, and Halleck Vineyard Hillside Cuvee Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir tops the chart.
