Israel carried out an intense airstrike on the Gaza Strip just hours after U.S. President Joe Biden publicly backed international calls for a ceasefire between the Jewish state and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Separately, several rockets were fired into Israel from Lebanon on Monday by UNIFIL, according to the UN peacekeeping force on the Lebanon-Israel border. Lebanese state media reported that Israel took revenge with more than two dozen rockets. There were no casualties in either incident.
The incident is a second rocket attack from Lebanon that has been home to thousands of Palestinian refugees since the last enemies between Israel and Hamas began. He was not harmed in Israel.
Hezbollah officials, an Iranian-backed Lebanese paramilitary group that waged a month-long war with Israel in 2006, have sided with Palestinian militants. But the group has not indicated any intention to escalate the final conflict.
