Israeli airstrikes target Gaza for the second time since a ceasefire occurred in the Gaza Strip

Israel targets civil administration building, Palestinian armed group sites and agricultural areas, sources say.

Israeli fighter jets have carried out airstrikes for the second time on the Gaza Strip since the end of the 11-day war last month since the end of the ceasefire.

Palestinian sources on the ground said that on Thursday Israeli missiles struck several sites of armed groups northwest of Gaza City and north of Beit Lahia in the besieged territory.

A civilian administration to the north east of Jabaliya was also targeted, in addition to an agricultural field east of the southern town of Khan Younis. There have been no casualties.

After the airstrikes, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum, the group led by Zinta, said in a statement that “the bombing of the occupation resistance zones is a demonstration by the new Israeli government,” referring to the approved administration. On Sunday in the Israeli parliament, right-wing nationalist Naftali Bennett was sworn in as prime minister.

“The resistance will be in defense of our people, the people and the holy sites,” the statement added.

Hamas-owned Al Aqsa television reported that an Israeli drone had landed west of Gaza City.

Intensive balloons

Israeli media reported that the army attacked Hamas targets on the Gaza Strip in response to militants continuing to fire flaming balloons at the territory.

In a statement, the military said it would remain “responsible for the destruction of Hamas’s military capabilities and structures and for what is happening on the Gaza Strip.”

On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to discuss security issues and “ongoing challenges for Israel and the region.”

“The secretary discussed the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security, the importance of the U.S.-Israel bilateral relationship, and the need to improve Israeli-Palestinian relations in a practical way,” U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.

“Secretary Blink and Minister Lapid stressed the strong cooperation between the United States and Israel and the ongoing support that America provides to Israel’s security,” the document added.

On Wednesday, Israel also carried out airstrikes, claiming it was a Hamas facility.

At least 257 Palestinians, including 66 children, were killed in a 11-day bombing on the Gaza Strip last month.

On the Israeli side, 13 people, including two children, were killed by rockets fired from Gaza.
