When a reader asks me what I miss about the UK, I say without thinking – and so honestly – the closeness to other countries. The growing demand for the middle class in Asia can change the economy of corporate companies as much as the loss of old business brochures. With regard to green taxes and flight rationing, voters will have the opportunity to talk about good play until the fate of their permanent stays is revealed.
But if that is to be the way of the future, a small continent full of treasures, rewarded with rail and asphalt, will come to life. And – I call it the “Ode to Joy” – the war that remains – this is true with or without EU membership.
