She and I prepared dinner for some of our favorite women, and as we gathered around the table, I remembered why I love an intimate dinner at home more than anything. Organizing nights like this is one of the biggest passions of my life, and there is no doubt that food is a powerful tool for creating deeper connections. We will share them all. unique. Usually, my inspiration for a table starts with a single element, and this was no exception: the sculptural branches — both evergreen and winter branches. we used it on my mantle It created a Scandinavian forest atmosphere, especially against a minimalist background of neutrals. The lush fabric and the bright light of the candles made the table feel like its comfortable world, and my goal was to capture that. warm sense amusing party throughout the space.
Create a canvas
Throughout the year, even though I take on the natural look of an unfinished teak dining table, I dressed it up for our enjoyable dinner party by covering it with a large white linen table. Its simplicity and wrinkled linen texture added a Scandinavian touch, especially with the evergreen natural runners and pomegranates, which were low enough to interfere with the dinner conversation.
My friend Elle Worsham owns it Gracious Garlands, and his team created this table to create the most beautiful evergreen evergreen and beautiful centerpiece. In planning this design, we both knew we wanted something that was easy to move around throughout the holiday, which wouldn’t block the flow of conversation across the table. These swags are the perfect balance of simple and special and are decorated with grenades and candles.
For simple everyday dinners, I only store decorations on the table, but for the party, we raised the look with a floral centerpiece created by Worsham in a vintage glass compote dish. Bare-shaped horns have been added to the silhouette of the sculpture.
Once I laid the groundwork with my white linen table and evergreen foliage, I was ready to appear in a bright candle that makes each dinner party setting feel special. Of all the ideas for setting up holiday and Christmas tables here, candlelight is the fastest and cheapest way to give any meeting a magical glow.
I started with these high metal supports that held me up a bit; the winter season is a great time to get a little darker and more moody, so they seemed perfect to me. When I add high, sculptural elements to the table, I like to keep things a bit asymmetrical, so I staggered two candlesticks on one side and a single stick on the other. Then, to add more bright light, I inserted a few votes between the green ones.
A place for everyone
Taking a few minutes to hand-write simple place cards is one of the ideas for setting up my holiday holiday tables, which has a long way to go, but it really couldn’t be easier. We cut pieces of watercolor paper the size of a business card, then used it this brush to write the name of each guest in italics. Don’t worry about the perfect writing: it’s the imperfect nature of these cards that makes them feel personal and special.
To lift these simple place cards, I wrapped some green and cinnamon sticks with heavy thread, tied the ends, and put a beautiful bouquet of perfume in each place. Although I usually take a more informal approach to setting the table, the holidays are a fun way to make things feel a little higher with seat assignments. And especially at a dinner where not everyone knows each other, I think people like to know where to sit.
Raise a glass
For this table, I’ve mostly used the dishes I already had in my collection, but I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to break them down. my new glasses of wine. I was immediately attracted to the delicate stems and refined silhouettes of these glasses, and the set of 4 is a great price, which means that when I inevitably break a pair, it’s not a big deal to ask for replacements. Although I ordered red and white, I prefer to put a delicate glass of white wine in each person’s place and have the red glasses waiting on the wings with my bar setup.
Choose your palette
Incorporating ideas for festive holidays and Christmas tables doesn’t mean you have to stick to a red and green palette. In fact, I limited mine to shades of white, burlap, evergreen, silver, and gold, which allowed me to play with textures and shapes without feeling too busy or feeling too thematic. White plates with a specially crafted edge, linen handkerchiefs and teak handle plates are versatile pieces that I can use all year round; it’s the layer of the centerpiece and the candlelight that brings it all together during the holiday season.
Enjoy your eyes
Before the guests arrived, I put together a very simple cheese board that served a dual function as a table decoration. Than huge pasture boardI used to hold on a bit and create a “bodegune” for stilton, triple cream brie and truffle tremor goat. I filled the gaps with a set of grapes and some fresh figs, then added a few small wooden bowls filled with almonds, flatbread and gluten-free crackers. As usual, I cut and crushed the ends of the cheese to make it not too perfect and to encourage the guests to drill.
