Interim Prime Minister Hassan Diab has warned that Lebanon is missing a “social explosion in a few days” and has called on the international community to save a country in deep economic crisis.

The European Union’s foreign policy chief told Lebanese leaders last month that they were to blame for the political and economic crisis and that some could face sanctions if they continue to obstruct steps to form a new government and implement reform.

Diab has repeatedly called for help linking the reform, but the “imposed siege” on Lebanon did not cause corruption – it is a reference to politicians.

He said the Lebanese are running out of patience and “linking Lebanon’s support to the formation of a new government has become a threat to the lives of Lebanese and the Lebanese entity.”
