Matt Riddle has set a SummerSlam record, the evolution of RK-Bro and his trip from the UFC to the WWE

Matt Riddle’s journey as a WWE superstar has always been impossible, as he went from being an ugly end to his UFC career after numerous drug tests to testing marijuana as an independent fighter and eventually moved on to the WWE. At SummerSlam, this trip reached another milestone, with Riddle winning the Raw tag team championship with his RK-Bro pair Randy Orton.

The tournament is Riddle’s second on the WWE list after finishing at WrestleMania as the U.S. champion. Even though he got the title earlier, it was alongside Orton that he helped Riddle achieve a new star level, being someone who could strive for the main part of WWE’s programming.

“I feel pretty good, you know,” Riddle told CBS Sports. “I feel even better because it happened in front of 51,000 people at SummerSlam, breaking records in the market and everything else. Riddle and Orton follow the long tradition of WWE “odd couples” label teams, somehow pairing them up with two very different personalities who make up the perfect team. The idea for the group stemmed from an official joke by Riddle that the two men flourished when they were without any other duties.

“A couple of weeks before WrestleMania, I made a joke and said,‘ How horrible it would be if Randy and I got together and called RK-Bro, ”Riddle said. “The writers and everyone laughed at me. Sometimes you just have to plant that seed and it finally happens. I lost the U.S. championship at WrestleMania and Randy won The Fiend, so we had already finished our particular story. and the types we found each other.I think it wasn’t originally supposed to be today, but we both pushed in. We both wanted to work together and when two people are passionate about something at the end of the day, it’s very hard to say no.

“With a weird dynamic couple, I look like this, in real life, that’s how relationships are. Usually two people aren’t the same. Riddle’s UFC career ended in 2013. He won four fights in a row, even flipping without two contests after failing Riddle’s drug tests.
