Monoprice Monolith M570 headphone review: great sound for the price

Most dynamic drivers have sweet spots in the frequency spectrum, which is why nice headphones and speakers often have multiple controllers, separated by high-frequency and mid- and low-frequency speakers, just like in home audio speakers you probably know. .

For acoustic reasons where you want to talk to a doctor, flat magnetic technology allows a single controller to accurately reproduce the full spectrum of sound. The thin film of flat drivers works especially low. With dynamic piston-like drivers, it’s hard to get a bold low-range extension without wanting a lot of surrounding frequencies and without creating a “sweet” listening experience. Think about listening to a song in another room behind closed doors and you get that idea. The M570 driver’s planes have nothing of that “mud”.

The M570 has a clear distinction between bass, drums and synthesizers, which I’ve turned into a hip hop headset. I’ve listened to MF Doom, Outkast, and Lil Nas X with joy, listening to every crazy subwoofer in a way I had previously experienced only on large speakers.

The crisp bass ends have impressive effects on the overall track balance, even at higher frequencies. Since nothing is muddy on the bottom, you can hear guitars, keyboards, and other chord instruments in the light. The brightest cymbals and acoustic guitars retain even more brilliance. They give a touch of detail and clarity to all styles of music.

The open design of these headphones, with no internal or external seals or obstructions to the drivers, gives them a very airy and lively sound stage – a three-dimensional imaginative space where you can “feel” your closure. eyes and listen. With the headphones closed in the back, you often feel trapped in a small listening room. The best way to produce a wide range of sound scenarios outside of good sound speakers is with open-ended headphones.

Over the last month or so, I’ve been looking at these much more expensive review units. I find them to be awesome sounds, which I get when I check my personal recordings on my headphones or mix them up at any time.

While I was recently out of town and working from a distance when I needed a pair of headphones, I took the M570 instead of other options. For me, they offer the best technology, comfort, and style I’ve ever heard for less than $ 500.

You’ll notice the differences between them and, let’s say, the differences $ 699 Hifiman Ananda, also magnetic front headphones. There are many higher-end models that generally look a little more open or slightly clearer. But there is a reason to use the word a bit. M570 sound very almost as good as headphones that cost twice as much or more, which is pretty amazing.

Considering these and my choice of my previous $ 500 favorites $ 220 Sennheiser / Drop HD6XX, The M570 won, no competition. I don’t know what magic the Monoprice engineers have packed into making cheap audiophile-level earrings big. I really wouldn’t change anything about them.
