Palestinian solidarity protests around the world Gaza News

Nearly ten thousand people in 100 cities have taken part in protests in solidarity with the Palestinians.
Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in cities around the world, from New York and London to Cape Town and Auckland, to end the deadly Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli bombing of Gaza came after weeks of escalating tensions as Palestinian families were forced to deport Sheikh Jarrah, an occupied Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem, who had been trying to deport Jewish settlers for decades.
The situation escalated when Israeli police attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in Jerusalem’s Old Quarter – the third holiest site in Islam – and wounded hundreds of Palestinian worshipers in a few days of violence. Protests began throughout the occupied territories and within Israel. The Palestinian faction-ruling Hamas faction in Gaza fired rockets at Israel after losing its time to withdraw from the mosque site.
The map and list below show places where major protests have taken place. More protests have been organized during the week in various cities around the world.
Al Jazeera will update this list as more information becomes available (updated May 17, 2021).
