Paul vs Woodley results, to lead: Jake Paul passed his first test; Tommy Fury missed the opportunity
[ad_1]
Social media star Jake Paul was forced to fight for the first time in his second career on Sunday night He has secured a split decision victory over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley Clevelanden. It wasn’t what fans would expect from Paul’s struggles, but it may be more valuable to the undefeated Ohio native.
Paul is now 4-0 in his professional career and may eventually find a decent opponent when he has to deal with a second time to really fix the score. Apparently, this is Woodley’s tattooed name to ensure a high salary that comes with a revenge on his body.
That’s one of the weird turns of an interesting night in the ring at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Let’s take a look at the biggest purchases coming out of the event.
Jake Paul passes his first real test
Jake and Logan Paul are not very likeable, especially for the low-weight concepts of “influencers” and “social media stars”. That said, Jake deserves credit – and apparently more than Logan – for taking his boxing career really seriously and trying to grow as a fighter, even though his competitive level remains under fire. However, it should be noted that if you look at the fourth opponent of the majority of high-level professional boxers, they certainly have no worse quality than Woodley, a fighter who has the means and experience to enter the ring as a training opponent. .
Paul had real fights in the ring on Sunday night, something much more valuable than anything we saw in the first three fights of his career. Paul stayed clean and when he landed, his opponent did not fall into the canvas, forcing Paul to face fatigue. For his own good, he managed these complications, found his second wind, and probably won every round in every stretch. In a sense, the “celebrity fight” that was played as a celebrity fight was the first of its kind – a quick knockout or more than one elaborate session – that forced Paul to win.
All of these positives are unlikely to change Jake Paul as a fighter, and not as a person. However, Paul had to answer questions from professional fighters and at least one night he was able to provide the right answers.
Not a fairy tale, not a nightmare for Tyron Woodley
It’s rare for a fighter’s career to achieve some sort of elegant ending. Great fighters don’t often walk in the evening with their tournament belt on their shoulders. Instead, their careers are fading and as a result they came out sad in their efforts to find something that made them special elite athletes. So was UFC’s Woodley case. When he was said to be one of the heaviest welterweights in the history of the sport, he dominated the turn until the four-fight skate sent him to the free agent market.
Many of the problems in Woodley’s career, even in his best times, were shown against Paul. He was often too passive, confident in his search for a big fist, and a large part of the fight didn’t cut the ring properly to take full advantage of his pressure. Still, he was given a great stage and a great opportunity, and he gave Paul a fight.
Woodley’s 77-75 card – the card that gave Woodley the last five rounds – while he wasn’t in the real fight, he did enough to give a solid account of himself as a fighter. Asking for a rematch may not be Woodley’s proud moment, nor will he be forced to agree to end his bet that he will see Woodley tattooed on his “I love Jake Paul” body, but the end result is another big salary that Woodley made enough to deserve the opportunity.
Tommy Fury may have lost his lottery ticket
Tommy Fury, the brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, opened the show by fighting to establish Paul as his next opponent. Fury would check out some important boxes for an enemy Paul, good looks, name value and perhaps most importantly, a record as a professional boxer.
Instead of offering a show against the massive underdog Anthony Taylor, Fury failed. When Taylor Fury’s peak was highlighting, but Fury won the ugly four-round fight, probably no one was pumping blood to see Paul on the B side of a pay-per-view. Between poor performance and the fact that Woodley does enough to demand a rematch, it looks like Fury will miss an important opportunity.
The rest of the card
- It has gone on to overcome the archaic and sexist attitude of boxing towards women in the sport. Amanda Serrano is a seven-time world champion in her career and one of the best female wrestlers in the entire sport. Why is he forced into tournament fights limited to two 10-minute rounds? Does Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul have less ability or greater risk if they fight for a longer period of time? Paul and Woodley fought for 24 minutes, and one of the world’s elite women was limited to a 20-minute time limit. There is no excuse for this and any argument to the contrary is rooted in sexism, intentional or not.
- Montana Love Vs. Ivan Baranchy was the kind of fight that fans show on every card. The two men gave up more than seven thrills before the Love technique and the clean punches broke Baranchy and had to interrupt the fight between rounds. Paul Vs. Woodley and Fury vs Taylor were not examples of what makes boxing great. That, on Sunday night, was reserved for this welterweight.
- God bless Joe Cusumano. The man tried against Daniel Dubois. Unfortunately, Cusumano Dubois was something more than a warm body and could not last from the initial round. These fights have to happen, especially after rebuilding a young fighter after a hard loss, but they probably don’t necessarily see it on the payment card.
