RIP Dilip Kumar: India, Pakistan have joined forces for iconic actor Gallery news

Dilip Kumar, one of India’s most famous actors known for his roles as a tragic hero in Bollywood films, died on Wednesday morning, his family said.

Kumar was 98 years old and had been ill for a long time, one of the doctors he was treating told reporters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan expressed their condolences, saying Modar was “blessed with unparalleled brilliance”.

“For my generation, Dilip Kumar was the greatest and most versatile actor,” Khan said on Twitter.

At the Mumbai headquarters, Bollywood actors and filmmakers, including Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan and Karan Johar, came together to pay tribute.

The funeral was held in Mumbai Cemetery with state honors.

Authorities in Peshawar province in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said they intended to restore the actor’s ancestral home on a narrow street in the city.

“We are now working on conservation,” said Abdus Samad, director general of the archeology department.

“An organization is gone … every time the history of Indian cinema is written, it will always be before Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar,” actor Amitabh Bachchan said on Twitter.
