The Iraqi military said responsibility for an attack did not immediately result in any casualties.
Two rockets were aimed at a base at Iraqi airport in Baghdad in a second attack by US-led coalition troops in 10 days.
One of the projectiles was intercepted by rocket, artillery and mortar systems deployed against C-RAM to protect U.S. forces in Iraq, a security source told the AFP news agency. No responsibility for the attack was immediately claimed.
Security officials said the rockets were fired from an area near the airport.
Washington blames the usual responsibility on Iraqi factions linked to Iran for attacks on its troops and diplomats.
Tehran and Washington have both been in Iraq since 2003, with 2,500 U.S. troops still deployed.
Last week, three rockets crashed into a sector of the Baghdad airport base occupied by Iraqi troops, injuring one soldier.
Nearly 30 rockets or bombs have been blown up by US interests in Iraq – including troops, embassies or convoys equipped with foreign forces – since US President Joe Biden took office in January.
Two foreign contractors, one Iraqi contractor and eight Iraqi civilians have been killed in the raids.
Sometimes, experts say, obscure groups suggest that operations in Iraq have long been smoke-protected for Iran-sponsored organizations.
It “occupies” U.S. forces
The attacks came at a sensitive time as Iran held talks with world powers with the aim of returning the US to a 2015 nuclear deal.
Baghdad reported last month that it had held a secret meeting of top officials from Tehran and the Saudi allies in the United States.
Iraq, hidden between its eastern neighbor and southern Saudi Arabia, has been working as a mediator.
