Last week, at an event hosted by Georgetown University, when he learned four decades ago, Ron Klain explained how close he is to the 46th president of America. “I’ve had the good fortune to work with Joe Biden for over 30 years,” he said. “So I know him well and I know what his needs are, and how he likes to be an employee and how he likes to have surgery.”
There is no doubt that the operation of Biden’s presidency has gone well so far. This week, he celebrated in his 100th day in office, met its two main goals: a rapid pandemic vaccination and a $ 1.9 million stimulus plan restart the economy.

Klain, 59, was born into a Jewish family in Indianapolis: his mother was a travel agent and his father a construction contractor. One of the most important tasks Klain performed during Obama’s years was managing the outbreak of Ebola, which prepared him for coronavirus. “He knows how the government works and how it works,” says Tom Frieden, a former head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Klain has also been a lobbyist and has worked for clients including Fannie Mae, a government-backed mortgage giant. He was also the CEO of Revolution LLC, a company founded by Steve Case, a former CEO.

Not everything goes wrong. Some of the president’s allies believe Klain has the potential to be one of the most effective leaders in the White House. Whipple said it’s too early to tell. “The difficulty of being a chief of staff is to get into the Oval Office, close the door and tell the president you don’t want to hear it. For now at least, Democrats are happy with Klain’s performance. “The fire is extinguishing large and small, helping to fix problems and deliver on promises,” says former Obama administration official Scott Mulhauser. “That’s what you want from your boss.”
