SNP after winning Scottish independence elections | Election news

Glasgow, Scotland – The Scottish ruling party won an unprecedented fourth term in government on Saturday after winning the Scottish parliamentary elections.
The Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) won 64 of the 129 seats, lacking an overall majority, and its closest opponent, the Scottish Unionist Conservatives, won 31.
The results, given that the Scottish Green Party also won eight seats, could pave the way for a second referendum on Scottish independence.
Voters across Scotland went to the polls on May 6, but coronary artery bypass grafting meant the countdown began later than normal.
Participation in the two-party voting constituency began on Friday, but until Saturday afternoon, when the so-called regional lists were also distributed, all the data was known.
The result means that, as has been the case for the last 10 years, the parties in favor of Scotland becoming a sovereign state are more than the parties advocating the continuation of the UK.
The SNP, led by himself and Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon, has won four of the last six Scottish Parliamentary elections since the creation of a legislative body that was dissolved in 1999 in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh.
This was Sturgeon’s second victory in the Scottish Parliament when he spent seven years under the leadership of the SNP, and will be seen as a vote of confidence in his prime minister.
“It confuses the SNP’s cautious center-leftism, public duty, and Nicola Sturgeon’s leadership that voters like,” Al Gazeera senior political commentator and writer Gerry Hassan told Al Jazeera.
“It’s not an accident to have consistently had horrible personal assessments in surveys.”
???????????????????????????? The people of Scotland have spoken – the SNP is a landslide.
✅ Maximum number of votes
Ever the largest number of seats in the district ever

But clashes over Scottish independence, rather than internal politics, resurfaced to bring voters to the polls.
Scots rejected 55 to 45 per cent of independence from the UK in a referendum in 2014, but recent polls show that they support or surpass the Union in favor of Scottish sovereignty and that voting priorities are linked to Scotland’s constitutional future. especially since Scotland was elected to continue in the European Union in the Brexit referendum in 2016.
“We have a new mandate. The people have voted for the SNP and we will hold another referendum because it is democracy,” SNP candidate Roza Salih told Al Jazeera. .
The pro-EU SNP has pledged to hold another plebiscite after the end of the current COVID crisis.
With the Scottish Greens, the SNP has numbers to vote on in the elected chamber, as the party did in the previous parliament.
But Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the UK Conservative Party, has done it again and again denied punishing another referendum, the constitution was an issue reserved for the Westminster Government in London and a close tension between the two administrations began even before all the votes were counted.
“We would continue with the necessary legislation, and that would only happen if it were approved by the Scottish Parliament,” Sturgeon told the media.
“Bada [Johnson] he wanted to stop him from going to the Supreme Court to sue – and that would be his decision, not mine. ‘
“What [the SNP and Sturgeon] it’s a struggle, ”he told Al Jazeera Scottish businessman Kevin Hague, campaigner for the UK and president of the Isles, a pro-union think tank.
“That’s how their complaint machines work. [Sturgeon] he doesn’t want an independence referendum soon because people don’t want him and he would actually lose. “
Although Scotland’s mixed voting system makes it terribly difficult to do so, Sturgeon will be disappointed that his party has not won a full majority – something the SNP did in 2011.
But with a renewed – and strong – participatory mandate, the Scottish Prime Minister will probably be happy to look forward to another five-year term.
He will also reject the controversy surrounding his predecessor, SNP leader and prime minister Alex Salmond, who threatened to destroy his prime minister.
Once committed to friends and allies, the relationship between Sturgeon and Salmond was sensationally and publicly broken after the latter was accused of sexually assaulting several women.
Salmond was acquitted by an Edinburgh court early last year, but Sturgeon has shone with a former MP who tried to re-enter the Scottish political arena with his former pro-independence Alba Party, which failed to secure seats. .
Arresting a worsening of Scotland’s drug crisis, as well as directing the complementary nation from the current coronavirus pandemic, will be on Sturgeon’s list of priorities for the new mandate.
But, as always, Scotland’s constitutional future will remain in the forefront and in the middle as Edinburgh and London prepare for what will be a very painful clash.
