First, let’s get one thing out of the way: Memes don’t seem to be comfortable or pretty. Luckily, they cause laughter, but they are not at the expense of others. I get it all. However, I have to say, I am terrified of all these memes about Bill and Melinda Gates ’divorce.

For those who haven’t seen it, memes take on a couple different flavors: some actors Microsoft co-founder like a rich new man looking for love. Some argue with the idea that unmarried women could get rich hura. Others make some sort of comparison to the divorce of Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos. I think all is well. Most make fun of it, even if it’s the usual “Microsoft” moves so 1995. This is not a damn ridiculous Twitter. Rather it is to leave this alone.

Bill and Melinda Gates are very wealthy people who have a lot of important things to do. The chances of seeing these memes and even less the chances of having ass pain about them are not small at all. But that’s why it’s so annoying. Although deeply rooted in technology, it is not that couple very online. If a Kardashian overcomes a fracture, sure; it is normal for the internet to react to the problems of their relationships. The Gateses, however, mainly use all this technological money for philanthropy – Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation it spends millions to eradicate diseases and address economic inequalities. They’re not celebrity splashes, it just feels like treating them that way.

It also feels dangerous to blur. One of the most popular memes ever created since the couple he announced that they would split on Monday shows Bill Gates on a computer and photos of several women touching vaccine injection sites on the shoulders. Maybe I’m taking it too seriously – they’re just memes! – but if there’s one thing we’ve been taught over the last half decade, it’s that memes can be very powerful. People can laugh, but it can also influence public opinion, allowing them to sweeten and spread toxic ideas. I laughed at the meme about Melinda Gates and MacKenzie Bezos running togetheralso. But the truth is, we can do better.
