South Africa postpones Dutch tour after forced travel limit by COVID-19

The two-day international series between South Africa and the Netherlands has been postponed after two new variants of COVID-19 were discovered after travel limits were set, two cricket boards said on Saturday.

The rain forced the cancellation of Friday’s first ODI Centurion. The commission said it was “very unlikely” that the group of visitors could fly out of the country over the weekend.

The decision was made by the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union over the “increased anxiety and concern” of the Dutch party over the ban on flights to South Africa and the restrictions on flights to South Africa.

“It should be made clear that the concerns are strictly about travel issues and when the group will get home and have nothing to do with the integrity of the Bio-Security Environment successfully organized by the CSA,” said KNCB President Jurgen Delfos.
