The deadly attack is the latest rise in inter-communal violence to shake up the conflict-ridden region.
Tribal clashes between Arabs and Arabs killed at least 24 people in the western Darfur region of Sudan on Sunday, a support group said.
Clashes erupted on Saturday night over a financial dispute between two people at the Krinding camp for IDPs in West Darfur, said Adam Regal, a spokesman for the Darfur Refugee and Displaced Personnel Coordination.
Regal said Arab fighters known as the Popular Defense Forces attacked the camp early Sunday morning, setting fire to and looting property. He said at least 35 others were injured.
It was the last event the latest wave of inter-communal violence to shake up the conflict-ridden region.
A hashtag that says “Krinding is bleeding” in Arabic was a trend on Twitter on Sunday, with users posting images of allegedly burning houses and bodies wrapped in tombstones.
The camp is located four kilometers (2.5 miles) east of the provincial capital Genena, and is displaced by the African Masalit tribe, who were forced to leave their homes in the Darfur conflict.
Krinding violence was the latest to shake up West Darfur in recent weeks. Last month, a land dispute between Arabs and Arabs in the Jebel Moon area resulted in bloody clashes that left at least 17 people dead and 12 injured.
The violence escalated
In the nearby South Darfur province, tribal clashes have claimed the lives of at least 45 people in the town of Tawila in the past two months, according to the Sudanese Medical Commission.
