It’s time for me to try to eat as many meals as possible outside. There are few feelings I love more in life than the sun on my face (With SPF) because I enjoy something delicious in front of friends. That said, creating the right menu for outdoor dining has its art, especially when you’re there entertaining the crowd. This is why it is essential for the summer to have a great rotation of outdoor cooking recipes.

Many of you know that I started my career in hospitality, and organizing menus for large groups in the hopeful heat of mid-summer Austin taught me a thing or two about planning items. I have taken these lessons with me and now that I organize outdoor gatherings at home, I follow some key principles when it comes to organizing my menu.

Appetizers

The key giving home summer party right? Set the board of something solid that can stay raw or brown for a while (here we’ll see you avocado). Trinkets, cakes, fresh produce and grilled bread are the winning combination.

It usually looks like a simple protein (steak, chicken, or fish) that you can marinate in advance, then toss on the grill or bake in the oven.
