Seven women and three children were found buried in the property of the former police officer after he was arrested for two other murders.

The bodies of seven women and three children were found in the property of a former El Salvadoran police officer.

Hugo Osorio Chavez Osorio, 51, is being investigated for sex crimes and 13 counts of murder, according to the country’s attorney general’s office.

He was originally arrested last Saturday for the murder of a woman and her adult daughter, and he admitted that, according to The Associated Press.

The arrest came after residents of the western city of Chalchuapa called police and heard that a woman was listening for help.

Authorities found the bodies of a 57-year-old woman and her 26-year-old daughter in a pool of blood at home with signs of sexual abuse.

Investigations carried out excavations at various sites on the property. Among the bodies found were a 7-year-old girl and two 2- and 9-year-old boys.

Police did not specify why the number of murders they were investigating was 13.

Some people appeared to have died about two years ago, the attorney general’s office said on Twitter.

Seven other pits that may be in the property are still being investigated. At least 25 people are considered missing.

Chavez Osorio was removed from police custody in 2005 for sexual assault and spent five years in prison, investigators said.

Based on the information in the case, prosecutors issued arrest warrants for 13 other suspects who may have been complicit in 13 murders, including the murders of eight women.
