SURFSIDE, Florida (Reuters) -Pain was unveiled at a Miami Beach church on Tuesday to remember the lives of two young children and their parents in the first few months when victims of a condominium building fell.

About 113 people are still missing as rescue workers have been battling strong winds since Elsa approached the tropical storm. Officials have yet to determine what caused the 40-year-old building to collapse.

Marcus Guara had just started his new job in November as a sales manager for a towel and linen manufacturer and often raised charitable funds, including the San Jude Children’s Research Hospital, according to his Facebook (NASDAQ 🙂 account.

Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett said in a statement that while the storm is approaching from the south, strong winds in Elsa have hampered the work of emergency personnel.

“The wind is hampering large cranes that move very heavy debris,” Burkett said, adding that he was reunited with the family, believing the rescuers would find their daughter, a law school graduate and son-in-law who had just gotten married in January.

Experts and officials have warned that the probability of finding a survivor was far off, given how long it has taken.

Miami-Dade County Fire Chief Alan Cominsky said rescuers found no “living space.” So far the workers have said they have removed more than 124 tonnes or 5 million kilos of waste.

Forecasts predicted that the worst storm would be saved in the area. However, concerns about Elsa’s impact were carried out on Sunday night when officials ordered the demolition of half of the building that had been left standing.

A 2018 engineering report found structural deficiencies that are the focus of the consultations that included the jury’s review.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has warned that it will take some time to find the root cause.
