The Indian cricket committee is asking the ICC for more time to decide whether to host the Indian Twenty20 World Cup in the midst of the pandemic.

The rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, which were suspended earlier this month, will end in the United Arab Emirates in September and October, the Indian Cricket Control Commission (BCCI) said.

The BCCI also said in a statement on Saturday that it had asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) for more time to call on whether India would be able to host the Twenty20 World Cup in October and November.

England’s head of cricket, Ashley Giles, has said that English players will not be used to watching the IPL if it clashes with the international calendar and it is unlikely that other countries would risk their player so close to the World Cup.
