The Philippine military has killed 50 of the most serious air disasters in the Philippines

Philippine troops found the last five people killed in a transport plane crash in the south, bringing the death toll to 50 in the worst military plane crash, officials said Monday.

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules was carrying mostly 96 soldiers as it crossed the runway on Sunday when it landed at Jolo airport in Sulu province, the military said. He stepped into a coconut bush beyond the airport and caught fire in the midday disaster witnessed by the soldiers and fellow villagers.

Troops, police and firefighters rescued 49 soldiers, among others, jumped from the plane before it exploded and set fire to the fire. They have accounted for all passengers now. Seven people on the ground were captured by aircraft parts and debris, and three of them were killed, the military said.

One of the refurbished Lockheed C-130 Hercules U.S. Air Force aircraft was delivered to the Philippines, Washington’s oldest Asian treaty, this year as part of military aid.

Those who boarded the C-130 in Cagayan de Oro were army troops on the flight to Sulu, many of whom were newly trained recruits to expand their fight against Abu Sayyaf fighters in the south.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident and investigators were looking for black C-130 boxes with cabin voice and flight data recorders.

Earlier on Sunday, the deadliest disaster in the Philippine Air Force was an accident in 1971 that killed 40 soldiers at a rice field in northern Manila, military historian Jose Custodio said.
