This amazing new trailer for “Dune” invites you to watch “Dune” in theaters

[ad_1]

You know nothing about Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel Dune, in addition to being that extraordinary kind, the latest film adaptation has been very promising long time. Since David Lynch released his infamous version in 1984, fans have been demanding much better and better Dune movie. It’s a white whale of science fiction, such an unfilmable book that everyone wants to try. Maybe that’s why Warner Bros. announced it in 2019 Arrival Director Denis Villeneuve would be the next to shoot, the general consensus was, “Well, if anyone can do it, he can do it himself.” The suspense was real.

Then Covid-19 it happened, theaters closed and what was expected to be a film in 2020 became the most promising film of 2021. Then Warner Bros. announced the full board of the 2021 film — in between Dune—It would be released on HBO Max streaming the same day they hit theaters. Villeneuve, the filmmaker in every sense of the word, was alive, writing Variety decisions ”that he had just finished Dune franchise ”without giving the film a chance to perform well at the box office. Today, the studio has released the main trailer for the film, which almost requires you to watch it in a movie theater.

From the sheer massiveness of Sandworm to the impossible geometry of Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet’s jawbones, it’s a film made for the widest possible screen, possibly from Imax. The sands of Arrakis full of spices, the boats that look like cities, the costumes, the imposing moving figure of the baron of Harkonn – all these things are ridiculous on small screens; it’s almost painful to see this trailer on a 15-inch MacBook. It’s a film designed to get your asses in the theater seats. (Note: Did any of the above terms — or anything that happens in this trailer — make sense to people who haven’t read the book? It sounds beautiful, but my god must be an uphill battle for those who have no clue what “spice” is. [It’s essentially a drug that allows pilots to navigate space travel; it also turns people’s eyes blue, and … you know what? Nevermind.])

In that sense, this Dune the trailer has achieved its goal. The big incident since the closing of the Covid-19 theater accelerated the transition to the release of films on Hollywood streaming services on the same day they hit theaters. In addition to Warner Bros. ‘moved, Disney also started putting on movies like that Cruel Disney + opening this weekend. Disney proved that this could be it relatively successful with the model Black windowit grossed more than $ 200 million over the opening weekend. But while Disney charged $ 30 Black window Dune, unless something changes, will be free for anyone signing up for HBO Max. To make an impact, it has to sell a lot of theater tickets or significantly increase HBO Max subscriptions — or both.

Based on this aforementioned trailer, he is shooting the first one. Dune October 22 comes out and while there are no other points of coronavirus infections (get vaccinated, everyone! Dune!), the movie will be played on as many screens as possible. Continued Black windowpremiere, National Association of Theater Owners has released a release basically saying that Disney left the money on the table by putting the movie on streaming service. Certainly some are afraid to put up with it Dune On HBO Max might do the same, but if there’s any indication of this trailer, Villeneuve’s film is here to shoot for the moon. Fear is a head killer.
