Tornadoes release death and devastation in US states | News

A devastating tornado swept through Kentucky and five other U.S. states, leaving traces of homes, factories and warehouses that killed and destroyed dozens of people.
Videos and images shared on social media from the city of Mayfield in Kentucky on Saturday showed buildings broken by storm with folded metal scattered across the streets, fallen trees and broken bricks, and only house debris left behind.
Images from tornadoes on U.S. news showed a black cylinder crossing the earth, occasionally lit by lightning.
At least four tornadoes in several Kentucky counties were destroyed by tornadoes. One of the state’s 320 km (200 miles) was broken, Governor Andy Beshear said.
“I’m afraid there are more than 50 dead … probably closer to 70 and 100, it’s devastating,” Beshear said, adding that it was “the worst tornado in Kentucky’s history.”
Meanwhile, at least two people were killed at an Amazon facility in Edwardsville, Illinois. The roof of the building was torn down and a wall about the length of a football field collapsed.
Several people were found missing while rescuers searched for potentially trapped workers at the facility, police chief Mike Fillback told reporters.
Here is a selection of images that show the devastation caused by tornadoes.
