The appearance of the B.1.617.2 coronavirus variant has called for some scientists to delay its reopening.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the country will step up its COVID-19 vaccination program to try to have a rapidly expanding variant identified in India that could lead to a reopening of the economy.
