Vasiliy Lomachenko’s next fight: “Loma” will return to Masayoshi Nakatani in June

Vasiliy Lomachenko will return to the ring for the first time since losing to Teofimo Lopez. Lomachenko will face lightweight rival Masayoshi Nakatani on June 26 at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas.

Lomachenko underwent shoulder surgery when Lopez lost. It was the second shoulder injury in Lomachenko’s career. After Lopez’s fight, Lomachenko stated that he was unable to throw his right hook due to injury.

Nakatani is a strong fighter and is one of the only men to have experienced significant moments of success with Lomachenko against Lopez, losing the 2019 competition decision. After that loss, Nakatani was out of work for more than a year as he struggled with Felix Verdejo in December 2020 to make the ninth round stoppage return from the first two playoffs.

Lomachenko wants to fight for the top of the all-time lightweight division, and hopefully along with Lopez, he now holds the 135-pound WBA, WBO and IBF titles.
