HANOI (Reuters) – Vietnam’s first carmaker Vinfast said Monday it began operations in North America and Europe, joining a crowded field of players trying to whitewash customers with smart electric customers.
VinFast, the largest conglomerate unit in Vietnam’s Vingroup JSC, became the country’s leading carmaker in 2019 when gasoline-powered models built with its distinctive feature hit the streets.
The company said in a statement that these are key markets in the international business expansion plan that the United States, Canada, France, Germany and the Netherlands considered.
The two models of the VF (NYSE 🙂 e35 and VF e36 electric cars will be officially launched in March next year, the release added.
VinFast sold about 30,000 vehicles last year and expects more than 45,000 sales by 2021.
He stated in April that he would consider joining an initial public offering or special purpose company in the United States.
