What you need to know about the new CDC mask guidelines

Tuesday, July 27 U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention inserted people recommend wearing masks in public spaces inside communities where there are numerous hidden cases.
Along with the new policy, the CDC recommends that K-12 level children attend in person while they continue to wear masks inside the school.
Why is the CDC making this change?
The announcement comes as a result of an increase in infections caused by the delta variant, a highly contagious strain of cobido that was first detected in India this year. The new policy seems to be backing down, though Rochelle WalenskyThe CDC director explained that the agency’s decisions are not taken lightly.
“Our guidance and recommendations will follow science,” Walensky said at a news conference. “The Delta variant is showing up every day to be more than us and willing to be opportunistic in areas where we haven’t shown a strong response against it.”
In May, the delta was responsible for only 2% of cases sequenced in the US, but now 82% of the samples have the most contagious variant, according to Johns Hopkins.
Does this change affect me?
Probably (if you live in the US). More than 63% of the U.S. calls what the CDC calls “significant transmission rates,” which means the new policy would apply to it. To find out if you live in an area where the shield is proliferating, visit the CDC Covid Data Tracker, monitors infections by region.
(If you’re not fully embedded, there may not be much change, depending on where you live. Eeight states, including California, New York and Nevada, require people who are not already embedded to put on a costume.)
How does the delta variant spread?
The CDC believes unincorporated people are pushing for this expansion. Rarely, people who are vaccinated also get sick and transmit the infection, even if the cases are much more serious. At the beginning of the pandemic, one person who was covered can infect another 2.5 on average. With the Delta variant, an infection produces an average of six.
