According to Adzun, 250,000 fewer jobseekers in Western Europe and North America applied for work in the UK each month between February and April before the pandemic.

“Employers in the UK cannot rely on workers abroad to fill job gaps,” Hunter said.

The combination of Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic is believed to have reduced the number of foreign workers in Britain.

The shortage of workers is not limited to Britain. Several hospitality companies in the United States have said that the holiday season is threatened by staff shortages, with Australia reporting on recent problems.
