Roger Federer is not making history at Wimbledon this year. Hubert Hurkacz of No. 14 broke Federer’s 6th-place finish in the Federer quarterfinals in straight sets on Wednesday. Hurkacz’s 6-3, 7-6 and 6-0 victories will push him to the finals, where he will be ranked No. 7 by Matteo Berrettini and No. 16 by Felix Auger Aliassime.

In this All England Club race, Federer, 39, became the oldest player to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. Meanwhile, Hurkacz marks his first appearance in the Grand Slam quarterfinals.

Hurkacz was in control of the majority of the game, winning a total of 19 games compared to Neder’s nine. This is the first time Federer has lost in a straight set at Wimbledon since winning his first Wimbledon title in 2003.

Federer was looking for his 21st Grand Slam title and ninth career title at Wimbledon. The Swiss star is tied with Rafael Nadal with 20 of the most Grand Slam titles.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 qualifier Novak Djokovic defeated Marton Fucsovics to advance to the semifinals in straight sets (6-3, 6-4, 6-4), where Denis Shapovalov will be ranked 10th.
