At least two Wimbledon games are being investigated because they are allegedly fixed. According to a report by the German newspaper Die Weit. The investigation was launched in early July after making very specific and suspicious bets during the tournament.
According to the report, suspicions arose around a men’s doubles match in the first round. Big bets were placed against a unique couple in an “irregular time”. The pair ended up winning the first set, which increased their chances of winning. However, the tandem lost the next three sets.
The second match is supposedly aimed at opponents of a German player in an individual match. After the second set, very high bets were placed on the exact score of the third bet and the bets on the number of service games. These bets were fulfilled.
The International Tennis Agency has not provided any information on the investigation into the match. ITIA has received 34 different reports of bizarre matches since January.
It’s not the first time this year that people are investigating how to fix matches in a Grand Slam tennis tournament. Yana Sizikowa was a Russian tennis player arrested for allegedly fixing a match at the French Open in 2020 in June.
