WWE’s biggest summer event officially has a home, with the promotion announced to be held on August 21 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. WWE made the location official at the pre-race festivities at the Belmont Stakes, confirming rumors that a spectacular summer would land in Vegas.

It is a unique event in many ways. It will be the first time it has been held at a SummerSlam NFL it’s also in the stadium and on Saturday, rather than on Sunday, as is customary at WWE paid events.

The date also places the Las Vegas event on the same night of the horrific paid boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr..

SummerSlam will have fans, and the WWE crowd will be back and live tours in July. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, only April WrestleMania 37 has taken people for promotion. WWE has used ThunderDome, a virtual fan experience for all other TV shows since August 2020. ThunderDome has been to the Amway Center in Orlando, St. Petersburg, Tropicana Field in Florida, and the Yuengling Center in Tampa.

The sale of Allegiant Stadium would attract 70,000 fans to the north, beyond the capacity limit for WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
