SANTIAGO (Reuters) – Chile’s left-wing Gabriel Boric has widened his lead in the Andean presidential election ahead of Sunday’s presidential election, despite continued polarized rivalry against ultra-conservative rival Jose Antonio Kast.

Before the final vote, two private polls by Reuters predicted that Boric, a 35-year-old student protest leader Kast, 55, had overtaken a far-right lawyer defending the legacy of military dictator Augusto Pinochet.

Chile, the world’s leading producer and long-time Latin American market-oriented economic policy model, is poised for the most divisive presidential vote in decades, with two candidates from outside the major centrist parties.

A private poll by Cadem, which surveyed 1,007 people with a margin of error of 3.1%, showed that Boric received 55% of the vote compared to 45% of Kast, and a similar poll showed a 52% opposition last week. when he. 48% for Castro.

A second poll by Atlas (NYSE 🙂 Intel (NASDAQ :), a consulting firm that showed a tie earlier this week, now puts Boric ahead with a 51% vote over Kast’s 49%. The survey involved 4,062 people with a margin of error of 1%.

The country is in a two-week blackout period, where polls cannot clearly publish polls on votes, but private polls are often commissioned.

The first polls after the first round of voting on November 21 sided with Boric, although that advantage seemed to be diminishing until the final polls.
